Can you believe Summer is almost over! The kids are back in school and the ease of lazy Summer days are slowly winding down. If like me, you didn't get to have an exotic vacation this Summer (not sure if my trip to South Florida counts) I've got the next best thing, a review of Tommy Bahama at Legacy West. The menu is filled with Caribbean inspired dishes and tropical drinks that are so delicious, you'll be wondering if you should have brought your passport!
The Hubs and I started off with the coconuts shrimp and the chicken lollipops. The shrimp was crisp and perfectly breaded. The chicken lollipops were tender and practically falling off the bone. The jerk remoulade was a good contrast to the slightly sweet chicken.
For dinner the Hubs had the Sanibel chicken, which was stuffed with roasted red peepers and cheese, and lightly breaded. It was so good! I had the macadamian crusted snapper, served with coconut almond rice. The snapper was light and flaky and the rice was flavorful. Don't be intimidated by this flavor combination.
Before we get to dessert (oh you know I had to have dessert) lets discuss these Summer cocktails. I live for a great Summer cocktail see here and here My favorite was the frozen Mai Tai, with it's lush pineapple flavor. You can't help but feel like you have been whisked away to some beach resort while you're sipping on it. The Beachy Lychee was good too if you like your cocktail sweet and creamy. The froze was different than the typical froze I've had at other places. This one had hints of cinnamon and gave me Autumn feels. It's a good bridge from Summer to Fall.
Dessert was unique and scrumptious! I highly advise you to save room for dessert. My favorite was the Tahitian vanilla creme brulee that was served in a hollowed pineapple. With every bite of creamy custard, you get little chunks of fresh pineapple, just divine! The Pina colada cake was also moist and delicious. Picture white chocolate mousse and pineapple hugging each layer of vanilla cake that was sprayed with rum and finished off with toasted coconut. I could come back here just for cocktails and dessert!
