HOW TO MAKE PHILLY CHEESESTEAK SLIDERS?
I remember going to the mall as a teen and looking forward to lunch in the food court because I’d get a Philly cheesesteak from Charlies. It was such a treat. I still look forward to cheesesteaks, but now I make my own because they really are easy to create. I love making them when we do family game nights, or for watching a game on TV. These would be great during March Madness or for the Super bowl. I've even made these for a playdate, because kids and parents enjoy them.Ingredients for Philly Cheesesteak sliders
Steak - thinly sliced ribeye is traditionally used in Philly cheesesteak, so that’s what we’re using for our sliders. I give other options below. Provolone cheese - Provolone pairs so well with the steak. However, I’ve seen cheddar, American, and even cheese sauce on cheesesteaks. Choose your (favorite) cheese lol! Green Bell Pepper - Thinly sliced strips of bell peppers are going into this bad boy to upper the flavor. Onions - We’re going to slice these thin and caramelize them so they are sweet and delicious. Mushrooms- This is optional but I love adding baby bella mushrooms to my cheesesteaks. Seasoning - We’re keeping it simple with salt, pepper, and onion powder for the steak. We’ll add garlic powder and dried parsley to the melted butter to top our buns. Butter - We’re topping our buns with seasoned melted butter, to really set these sliders off. Slider Buns - Any slider bun will do but my go to is Hawaiian rolls. What kind of meat should I use for cheesesteak?
Thinly sliced rib-eye is generally what is used for classic cheesesteaks. My local grocery store had steak that was specifically labeled cheesesteak ribeye in the meat section. Other great options are skirt steak, or New York strip. If you have trouble finding thinly sliced steak, you could always ask the butcher at your grocery store to slice it for you. Now, if you’re on a budget or just don’t want to go the steak route you could use ground beef or thinly sliced roast beef. I haven’t tried these alternatives, but I’m sure they would be delicious. Cheesesteak was originally "street food" and is still considered a casual food so you can make it as lux or as casual as you want.SLIDERS ON HAWAIIAN ROLLS
Whenever I make any type of slider, my go to bread is Hawaiian rolls. The sweetness and soft chewy texture compliments any savory sandwich so well. Also, I like the fact that they are easy to portion. I used half a pack of Hawaiian rolls for this recipe. Double the ingredients if you’re feeding a bigger group or want leftovers.Baked cheesesteak sliders
When I’ve seen Philly cheesesteaks made in places like my beloved Charlies in the mall, they melt the cheese in the pan right on top of the meat, onions, and peppers, then slide everything into the hoagie. However, for our sliders, we are going to build the sandwich, brush the buns with seasoned butter, and let the cheese melt and the buns toast up nicely in the oven. .What to serve with your Philly sliders
You can enjoy your sliders by themselves as a nice snack or appetizer. Or you can make a meal of it with potato chips, French fries, onion rings, or even a side salad. Around here we're all about the wine an cocktails so I would sip an adult milk shake with this or red wine sangria. A cabernet would pair well with these too.Philly cheesesteak slider recipe
