Hey Brunchies! Fall is finally here, and I couldn't be more excited! This time of year is foodie season (I'm mean technically all year is foodie season for me) because there are so many food festivals, the Texas State Fair, Oktoberfest, and Halloween events. This could be why Fall is my favorite season. September was such a busy month with events and new restaurants opening. I decided to highlight some of the events I attended this month. I usually post on my Instagram stories in real time from the events I attend so make sure you're following me here.
*Kilwins, Plano
I finally visited Kilwins and lets just say, maybe this was a mistake. You guys know sweetness in my weakness and this is basically like Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Kilwins makes most of their items in house. I was there when they were making the batch of caramel apples (swoon). I sampled the ice cream (the NOLA praline was so good), some the creamy fudge that comes in a variety of flavors, and so much more. I'll definitely be back with the kids to try some of their new Fall items, like the apple pie ice cream (yum).
Medieval Times
This year for my son's birthday, in lieu of a party we celebrated at Medieval Times. Medieval Times is an interactive dinner show that includes knights on horses and sword fighting. The kids really enjoyed it. I would definitely suggest it for a family outing or a birthday celebration. TIP: Bring disposable silverware because utensils are not served with dinner, remember we're in Medieval Times, the food is meant to be eaten with your hands. The portions are huge, especially for kids. Save Your Coins: I purchased props from Dollar Tree for us to really get into the theme. This also saved money, because the souvenirs can be pricey. It also made it more fun because everyone in our family had a prop.
*Snooze, Dallas
The breakfast all day every day, eatery Snooze, opened it's second DFW location. Snooze is my jam, because as you know, brunch is my favorite meal of the day, and there are so many delicious options. Snooze also makes their items from scratch, none of that premade stuff. Some of my favorites are the pancake flight, where you choose three different pancakes (the pineapple upside down is a must), the avocado benny, and the OMG french toast, which is basically a dessert. Something else to feel good about is that Snooze partners with local community organizations. During their soft opening all of the tips went to Vickery Medaow.
*Moxie Grill, Plano
Moxie Grill brought their talents to Plano, so now you don't have to venture to uptown to feel cool and hip. The Plano location has a swanky bar and a cool patio area that will be a great hang out spot now that the evenings are getting cooler. This will be a good spot for date night or girls night out.
*The Ultimate Cocktail Experience
If you're a cocktail aficionado then this is your event. As the title rightfully states, this event is an experience. There are over 40 different cocktails, music, and something happening in every corner. I tried my first vaporized shot, there was an oxygen bar, an adult game of operation, vodka infused ice cream, a bodega in case you got the munchies. I'm telling you it was an experience.
*The Edge of Texas
This was my second year attending Texas Monthly Magazine's event, celebrating all things Texas! This is a two day event that includes a day full of seminars and workshops from some of Texas' best and brightest (think Mark Cuban, Dale Hansen, and Rachel Lindsay) and a party that featured food from some of the best restaurants in Dallas.
*Foodie Palooza
This was my first year attending the Food Palooza, but It will not be my last. As the name suggests there was tons of yummy food and cocktails from local restaurants and a DJ that had everyone doing the Wobble. There was also a silent auction with some amazing items (think $1k gift card to Highland Park Village and an item from Christian Louboutin, just to name a few). All of this was going on over looking the beautiful White Rock Lake. The best part was that we were partying with a purpose. All of the proceeds from the event went to the East Dallas Boys and Girls Club.
Be sure to be on the look out for these events next year so you wont have a major case of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) next year. Just another reason for you to make sure you are following me on Facebook and Instagram where I'll be reminding you to get your tickets.
