I hosted a Summer dinner party for my latest Supper Club dinner. I talked about my previous supper club dinner here. My goal for each dinner is to continue to elevate and enhance the dining experience for our members. I try to bring something different to each dinner, while maintaining that we sit at one long table, enjoy amazing food, and have a sense of community.
When I think of a Summer dinner party, I think of back yard bbqs, picnics, and fresh citrus flavors. Natasha of So Chic Events executed my vision perfectly with the tablescape.
Smithy on Henderson
Our Summer dinner party was hosted by Smithy on Henderson. I chose Smithy because they are a relatively new restaurant in the Knox/Henderson area of Dallas. Their chefs locally source all ingredients and make the dishes fresh-to-order for undeniable flavor. They also have a progressive and spirit-forward cocktail menu. The Smithy staff was great to work with. Jean, the event coordinator, was helpful and accommodating. Our server, Sean was attentive and never let our drinks go past half, before asking if you were ready for another one. Smithy also has a private dining room that would be great for a large private dinner or corporate event. I highly recommend them.
The menu:
We stared this dinner with a cocktail mixer. Guests were immediately greeted and offered the drink menu. I stuck with white wine, but the "That's My Jam," a vodka cocktail infused with strawberry and cucumber flavors, was the most popular drink of the evening. We played a fun game of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner while we noshed on flat bread (my favorite appetizer), garden rolls, and chips and guacamole. The appetizers were fresh and flavorful. What I really enjoyed about Smithy is their blending of unexpected flavors. For instance, the flat bread had heirloom cherry tomato, champagne grapes, capers, basil, arugula, EVOO, boursin cheese, and feta, on a naan crust. The flavor profile was unique and delicious.
Following the mixer we sat down to a dinner selection of hot chicken or cedar plank salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and served on an actual cedar plank. The hot chicken also received raved reviews. The chicken was served with a corn dish that was striking, as it combined roasted corn, onions, and hard boiled eggs to create a delightful dish.
There's always room for dessert.
In line with the Summer inspired theme, we enjoyed a selection of assorted cupcakes provided by Marisa of Southern Hospitality Treats. When I tell you these cupcakes were so moist, and full of flavor! The members got to choose between, strawberry, vanilla, or a lemonade cupcake. Please check her out the next time you are hosting or just feel like having cupcakes (because really, who needs a reason).
We had a fun and delicious time. Connections were made, Facebook handles were swapped, and Instagram pages were followed (hey, this is millennial networking at its finest). The next dinner has already been scheduled for September 12th. Mark your calendar because I have so many surprises planned! Make sure you are following me on Instagram and Facebook . Subscribe here to get updates on the next dinner.
